Yamaha Motor Philippines Inc. (YMPH) recently launch the new Tricity at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds last January 24 – 25, 2015.
Built by the company to fit the urban lifestyle, the Tricity is being marketed by Yamaha as a New Commuter Vehicle. Even though it looks like some of the Yamaha bikes that the company is selling, it has a unique Leaning Multi Wheel (LMW) which consist of two front wheels and a singular rear wheel. That may sound straightforward but the LMW system can actually adapt to changes in road conditions and keeps the tires in contact with the ground as it leans.
Yamaha states that the LMW system is comprised of 3 key components: (1) the Parallelogram Link which allows the parallel leaning of the two front wheels along with separate independent suspension function, (2) the Cantilevered Telescopic Suspension that has machine dimensions and geometry unique to the Tricity and (3) the Unified Braking System (UBS) that applies braking force to the front wheels whenever the rear brake is applied as well.
It is powered by a 125cc motor and can be had in either Matte Red or Matte White. It is now available in all Yamaha 3S shops with a suggested retail price of PHP 146,000.
