Not one to be left behind by the likes of the Abu Dhabi and Dubai police forces, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department (TMPD) have decided to add some extra sportiness to their fleet as well.
Their most recent acquisition comes in the form of this trio of Nissan 370Zs. While the high-end police vehicles from the Middle East seem to merely serve as tourist attractions, the 370Zs will be used for actual police work. Having been assigned to the high-speed patrol unit, the Zs are there to beef up Tokyo PD’s chances at keeping up with the highly modified vehicles that prowl Tokyo’s infamous expressways.
In order to match unsuspecting street racers however, a run-of-the-mill 370Z wouldn’t cut it. Thus, these TMPD-spec vehicles are actually NISMO versions of the 370Z outfitted with police gear. Churning out a respectable 350HP from its 3.7L V6, the Z should be able to keep up with anything going a bit over the speed limit.
The Japanese Police have long been known to use sports cars to augment their fleet. They have had history of cars such as Toyota Soarers, Nissan Skyline GT-Rs, and even Mazda RX-7s in their stable over the course of the 90’s.
