Porsche has reportedly suspended its relationship with tennis superstar Maria Sharapova after her failed drug test.

The female athlete failed the drug test that was conducted at the Australian Open earlier this year. Sharapova was tested positive for the use of a drug called meldonium.

In her defense, Sharapova said that the drug meldonium was prescribed by her doctor and she has been taking it for the past ten years to treat diabetes and low magnesium.

However, the said drug was recently banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency which is believed to boost blood flow and can enhance athletic performance.

Aside from Porsche, Nike has announced that they are suspending their relationship with Sharapova while TAG Heuer has decided not to renew her contract.

Sharapova has been Porsche’s brand ambassador since 2013.
