Nissan Philippines, Inc. President Mr. Toti Zara is working out an agreement to bring in Nissan’s international virtual racing program, Nissan Gran Turismo (GT) Academy to the Philippines.

GT Academy is Nissan’s driver recruitment program that started in 2008.  It is an international virtual-to-reality contest that allows the best Gran Turismo players to become a real-life professional racecar driver.
Gran Turismo is a virtual racing simulation exclusively available on the Sony PlayStation 3 and 4. The current iteration is GT6.
The top Gran Turismo virtual racers are chosen in a series of online time trials using pre-selected Nissan vehicles. The qualified virtual racers are invited to the National Finals in each participating country. Then, the top six drivers from the National Finals will advance in the Final Selection Round at the Silverstone Racing Circuit in England.
One of the notable champions of Nissan GT Academy is Jann Mardenborough who was signed by Red Bull last February 2014 to race in GP3. In addition, Mardenborough became a member of the British Racing Drivers’ Club last August 2014.

If all goes well, Gran Turismo aficionados in the country can gain entry to international motorsport by entering Nissan’s GT Academy. Moreover, this program gives virtual racers a chance to compete with the world’s best professional drivers.
