What were you doing back in college? Struggling with a thesis? Or perhaps trying to find a way to free up your hectic schedule?
Twenty seven year-old automotive engineering student Chen Yinxi from China, just designed and built his own electric car. With just $4,740 (about PhP 218k), his mind and plenty of resources, he was able to make what others just dreamed of doing.
Called the Hainan Xiaohuohua, this sleek-looking all-electric car sure is a looker. With its distinct shape and gullwing-type doors, it may pass up a supercar concept for the future. The body is made from fiber-reinforced plastics which he got from his father’s company.
Despite looking very fast, the car’s platform and powertrain were based off a low-speed electric vehicle (LSEV). It only has a top speed of 30km/h, but Chen did say that this is only a concept as he plans to make another variant with a bigger motor.
For now, he rents the car for photo-ops, shop openings and even weddings. He still studies at the South China Agricultural University but he plans on focusing purely on car design in the near future.
