Racing sim enthusiasts rejoice! Swiss peripheral device maker Logitech has officially announced their G29 and G920 Driving Force gaming wheels. These new products will support the Sony PlayStation 4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One, respectively; both wheels are also compatible for PCs with Windows 7 and up.
Logitech says they have retained the dual-motor force feedback and helical gearing with anti-backlash from the G27 and improved this with more advanced electronics for better driving feel and feedback. Construction has also been improved with race-ready materials for a comfortable and durable experience.
With individual licensing and support (to the anguish of multiple console owners), Logitech has virtually integrated the gaming pad of the PS4 and Xbox One into each console’s respectively wheel for more convenient use and allow more controls on the wheel itself.
The pedals, while looking virtually the same as the one from G27 are likely to have an improved feel as well as durability upgrades.
The shifter will not be included for this generation of Driving Force gaming wheels, as Logitech will now sell you the h-pattern 6-speed gearbox with pushdown reverse gear for $59.99.
Both the G29 Driving Force and G920 Driving Force wheels will retail for $399.99. They’re both $100 more than the G27, while having no shifter included.
Assetto Corsa on the other hand, has announced that it will hit both PS4 and Xbox One consoles next year, in addition to its PC format.
Here’s a little teaser of Assetto Corsa with the G29 wheel.
