In an interesting departure from his career as a Formula One driver, the 31-year old Brit now has another role under his wing – as a character in a video game.
The three-time world champion will play the role of an engineer aboard the Retribution in Call of Duty’s latest iteration, Infinite Warfare. With the game set in the outer space and well into the future, the ‘Retribution’ is one of the United Nations Space Alliance’s last remaining warships after a deadly attack – and it looks like Hamilton is in charge of keeping it running.
“I’ve been a Call of Duty fan for long time, so it’s an absolute honour to be part of this game and the franchise.” Says Hamilton. “The experience of being put into the game – from the facial scanning process to working with the team on the performance capture stage and just being able to meet the developers at the studio to get a glimpse at all the hard work that goes into the game – this has been an incredible experience.”
Players will take on the role of Captain Reyes, a special operations solider who is in charge of the Retribution. Reyes is tasked with leading the remainder of the coalition forces against “a relentless army” in the game
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is set to launch on the 4th of November on PS4, Xbox One, and PC
