“When I grow up, I want to be…” is one phrase you’ll frequently hear from kids. Thankfully, there’s a venue where kids can live out their grown up dreams in a fun and educational manner. That venue is KidZania Manila: a newly developed interactive center in Bonifacio Global City that allows children to learn more about the adult world in a fun way.
According to KidZania Manila, it is a safe, unique, and interactive environment where children aged 4-14 can discover, explore, and learn about the adult world in a kid-sized city built just for them. The play city is built to scale for children – complete with paved streets, transport system, and a functioning economy. With 8,000 square meters of play space, children can explore their interests and learn life skills through over 70 immersive role playing activities. All activities are reality-based, hands-on, and interactive. Kids also get to wear realistic uniforms and use realistic work tools. Each establishment is sponsored by a leading industry partner that provides technical expertise and know-how to each activity. The industry partners help guide the content with real life business practices – making the activities as authentic as possible.
Like any city, it includes a police station, a fire station, hospital, and even supreme court. Naturally, these careers can be experienced by the visiting children. Children ‘work’ to receive Kidzo’s — the city’s currency — which can then be used to try out services or kept in a virtual bank account to teach them about saving.
Besides typical dream jobs like being a policeman, fireman, TV star, chef, or fashion designer, KidZania also offers the chance to experience more niche jobs like automobile designer, tax collector and even organic farmer.
Giving kids a glimpse of the auto industry is industry partner, Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. The partnership provides kids a fun introduction into the automotive industry with the Honda Design Center and Dealership and the Honda Pit Crew Training establishments.
The shops are modeled after real life facilities and even have a real Jazz as a display model. Kids can design their dream cars on computer tablets, or try their hand at salesmanship with a short course on discovering a customer’s needs and recommending the right car.
Those looking for a more high adrenaline experience can try out Honda Pit Crew Training where they can work with a team to make the fastest tire change pitstop on a formula car replica, complete with safe, yet realistic power tools.
With both firmly believing in the power of dreams, Honda and KidZania Manila certainly have the car nuts of tomorrow covered.
Kidzania Manila is located at Park Triangle, North 11th Avenue, BGC, and open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., up to 8 p.m. on weekends.
