As Polyphony Digital’s next installment for the Playstation 4 draws closer to its november release, it appears Kazunori Yamauchi took a page from the release of Gran Turismo 5 in 2010 – by delaying GT Sport to a further date.

Citing concerns that the game may need more time to be perfected, Yamauchi took to the Playstation Blog to bring the bad news to many eager fans of the franchise. “…as we approach our planned release date in November, we realize we need more time to perfect GT Sport”, Yamauchi said.

Specifics as to what exactly needs ‘perfecting’ are unknown, but these adjustments are enough to push back GT Sport’s release date to 2017 instead of the prior November 15th release date.

GT Sport will be Gran Turismo’s first iteration on the Playstation 4, playing host to 137 cars as well as 19 tracks with 27 configurations. The game will also come with a highly detailed photo mode called ‘Scapes’ which will output at 4k resolution.
