In the latest trailer of Fast and Furious 8, Dominic Toretto has turned his back on his team and is now helping this new mysterious woman played by Charlize Theron. Quoting Dom’s line in a previous movie, he says that the most important people are family. This time around, it appears that Charlize Theron is the most important person to him.
Aside from the new plot twist, expect the usual fast cars, fight scenes and explosions in the 8th installment of the Fast and Furious franchise. This time the team is take once again to different parts of the world; from the concrete jungle that is New York, to the blistering cold Artic battling a submarine. The usual apocalyptic destruction of cars which normally happens in the previous installments does take a new twist in this sequel.
As seen in the trailer, the mystery woman is able to control the self-driving software found vehicles, and uses it against Dom’s former team. From starting up the cars to controlling vehicles that are already on the move, she controls almost all the vehicles in New York in ways that suit her needs best.
The threat of someone hacking into a car’s computer is no longer far fetched as technology now-a-days continue to improve on a almost daily basis. Even the US government are advising automakers, who are developing self-driving vehicles, to make their vehicles more secure and less prone to hackers.
With the automakers now racing to build the first fully autonomous cars, let us just hope that they will be able to develop a system that would not allow vehicles to be hacked. This way, the carmageddon that happened with vehicles would only stay in the movies.
Fast and Furious 8 will arrives in cinemas April 12. Meanwhile, watch the trailer here.
